Grocart, a Dubai-based smart B2B wholesale food and grocery marketplace, is venturing into more Mena markets, following an auspicious launch in the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Egypt.

Grocart seeks to reach 20 thousand orders within a few months.

Co-founder and CEO of Grocart, Hussein Hosni, said: “Grocery stores are found in every community, big or small, in remote areas and busy streets. There is something about them that is so charming and nostalgic.

“When the pandemic hit, they remained open, but we noticed some struggled with deliveries or getting items on time. That is why we wanted to create a seamless solution to help them thrive and survive with a click of a finger.

“After all, they are our supply line in a time of crisis, in the middle of the night, or just because it’s always close by.”

This tech-savvy platform, since its inception in 2020, has been helping retailers and SMEs to buy directly from suppliers, saving time and money for manufacturers and distributors.

According to the company’s research, the B2B wholesale market in the UAE and Mena is highly fragmented, and the factors like inadequate reach and high cost of logistics scupper the segment growth, significantly slowing down supply cycles for the small grocery retailers. This impact was felt most acutely during lockdown.

To remedy the situation, the platform has streamlined the B2B wholesale market in the UAE for both suppliers and distributors, allowing them to allocate their resources through fixing faulty logistic chains without the burdens of extortionate costs.

According to a recent report on the Saudi and UAE markets by Frost & Sullivan consulting firm, the grocery purchase market size in the UAE amounts to more than $27 billion.
