InstaShop acquires B2B marketplace GroCart

Online delivery company InstaShop has acquired UAE-based B2B wholesale marketplace GroCart.

This acquisition aligns with InstaShop’s regional growth strategy, enabling the company to expand into traditional trade and HORECA business.

The acquisition reflects InstaShop’s goals to expand its market presence and enhance the accessibility of grocery shopping for customers and businesses.

Founder and CEO of InstaShop, John Tsioris, said: “We recognise the evolving needs of businesses in today’s dynamic market, and we are thrilled to announce our acquisition of GroCart.

“By leveraging our extensive network and cutting-edge technology, we aim to revolutionise the way companies shop, ensuring efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and a seamless experience. This alliance allows us to forge new partnerships and unlock innovative solutions for businesses empowering them to thrive in the digital economy.”

Founded by Hussein Hosni and Nesma Zaghow, GroCart was established to support the transformation of the grocery market scene during the lockdown.

The platform streamlines retail supply chain logistics for FMCG retailers through a web platform. With more than 200 partnerships in the UAE, GroCart plans to expand its B2B operations across the entire Mena region, targeting countries with a high concentration of small shops such as Egypt.

“We are excited to take GroCart to new heights alongside InstaShop,” added Mr Zaghow.

“The shared vision between Instashop and Grocart is exciting, we believe that together we will be able to enhance our impact while pushing the boundaries of customer experience.”

According to a recent report on the Saudi and UAE markets by Frost & Sullivan consulting firm, the grocery purchase market size in the UAE amounts to more than $27 billion.
