Deliveroo Hop expands rapid grocery delivery service in UAE

Deliveroo UAE is expanding its rapid delivery-only grocery service Hop to Downtown Dubai, thanks to its partnership with UAE-based supermarket chain Choithrams.

Deliveroo seeks to extend its reach to customers living in the densely populated ‘ heart of the city’.

General manager of Deliveroo in the Middle East, Anis Harb, said: “Following the success of our first Deliveroo Hop store, we’re excited to expand our offering to another neighbourhood in Dubai.

“Downtown is one of Dubai’s most densely populated areas, so we need to ensure we enhance the value proposition for our customers through our innovative on-demand grocery shopping. Deliveroo’s partnership with Choithrams has been seamless throughout our launch period, and we look forward to expanding our reach and improving our service offerings together.”

The newly launched delivery-only service will provide customers in the Downtown area with a wide range of goods, including shelf-stable essentials, home, personal care and pet products.

There is a minimum order value of AED30.

Through its ongoing collaboration with Choithrams, dating back to this summer, Deliveroo Hop promises to deliver groceries within 15 minutes.

In July, Deliveroo and Choithrams jointly launched Hop service in the country to cater to customers based in Motor City, Sports City, Barsha South, JVC, JVT and Arabian Ranches. The decision was spurred by a surge in the delivery demands post- lockdown.

Deliveroo Hop customers within Downtown can benefit from free delivery during the first two weeks of the launch. New customers are eligible for an AED40 discount for all orders above AED 60.

Established in Sierra Leone in 1944Choithrams operates 42 outlets across the UAE, five of which are open 24 hours.

According to a report by Ken market research, the demand for grocery delivery was projected to rise with a compound annual growth rate of 22 per cent for the period between 2019 and 2025.
