Deliveroo UAE reveals new feature

Deliveroo UAE has introduced a new feature enabling customers to top up orders with essentials at checkout.

The introduction of the option follows a successful trial in the UK.

Growth and commercial director at Deliveroo UAE, Ziad Zein, said: “At Deliveroo we are committed to becoming the definitive on-demand food delivery company by creating the ultimate experience for our customers.

“With our state-of-the-art technology, we’ve empowered our customers to tailor their perfect takeaway basket. Whether it’s merging their preferred restaurant dishes with a head start on tomorrow’s breakfast, or ensuring they’re prepared for an eventful evening, Deliveroo’s new top-up feature allows us to provide a seamless delivery experience.”

Deliveroo will be extending the new service to include other groceries in addition to HOP in the future.

The feature remains accessible for up to 10 minutes following the placement of the original order.

Founded in 2013 by William Shu and Greg Orlowski, Deliveroo works with approximately 182,000 grocery partners, restaurants and around 135,000 riders.

Headquartered in London, the platform is present across 10 markets, including the UAE, Qatar, Kuwait, the UK, Belgium, France, Hong Kong, Italy, Ireland and Singapore.

According to a report by Mordor Intelligence, the FMCG market in the UAE was expected to grow at a compound annual growth rate of 5.2 per cent from 2021 to 2026.

This growth is attributed to the increasing disposable income of consumers, the growth of modern retail formats and the rise of e-commerce.

According to a report by Ken Market Research, the demand for grocery delivery was projected to rise with a compound annual growth rate of 22 per cent for the period between 2019 and 2025.
