Carrefour partners with CrediMax to bring self-checkout service to Bahrain

In collaboration with CrediMax, Carrefour  Bahrain has launched the kingdom’s first self-checkout service in the kingdom at Carrefour City Centre and Bahrain Mall Hypermarkets.

The feature allows customers to scan and bag purchases as they journey around Carrefour stores using a hand-held device, easily accessed through a bank card or a smartphone.

Regional director of Gulf, at Majid Al Futtaim Retail – operator of Carrefour Bahrain – Laurent Hausknecht, said: “At Carrefour, we take great pride in offering the most convenient and integrated shopping experiences possible. 

“We understand that today, more so than ever, customers want a premium on convenience and quality customer service. The Self-Checkout service enables us to provide that, empowering customers with more autonomy and control. Its use of cashless payments limits unnecessary contact with other customers and touchpoints, offering shoppers avoidance of longer queues and added comfort.”

Self-checkout complement Carrefour’s commitment to curating seamless shopping experiences.

It was in Septemebr two years ago when the first completely automated cashier-less store in the Middle East landed at the Mall of the Emirates.

Carrefour was introduced to the region in 1995 by UAE company Majid Al Futtaim. The company is the franchisee for Carrefour in more than 30 markets across the Middle East, Africa and Asia. Carrefour offers omnichannel customer experiences, serving 750,000 customers daily.
