The Body Shop opens interactive activist concept store in Doha, Qatar

The Body Shop, British cosmetics, skincare and perfume brand, has opened a concept store in Doha’s Villaggio Mall, marking the brand’s 13th outlet in Qatar.

The store adopts the concept of an interactive activist workshop, with consumers invited to experiment with the brand’s products.

To minimise waste, the store houses a refilling station.

Customers can purchase 300ml refillable aluminium bottles for shower gels, shampoos, conditioner and handwashes, and return to the station when products are finished.

Also available is a station where shoppers can use stamps, ribbons and recyclable wrapping paper to wrap gift products and decorate refillable bottles.

In keeping with The Body Shop’s objective to minimise its carbon footprint on the environment, shelves and tables are made from reclaimed wood and recycled plastics.

Worktop surfaces are constructed entirely from recycled materials initially intended for landfills.

The store’s entryway is made from aluminium, an infinity recyclable requiring less energy production compared to others.

Visitors to the store are encouraged to ask staff members about The Body Shop’s various campaigns and environmental and social justice objectives, such as gender equality and eliminating animal testing of cosmetic products, at the store’s activism hub.

The brand’s campaigns in Qatar are in collaboration with Evolution Sports Qatar, the country’s largest multi-sports sports club and coaching organisation.

The partnership aims to empower youth through participation in sports and inspire leadership.

The Body Shop operates more than 3,000 stores in 75 countries, stocking over 8,000 products for haircare, skincare and body and hand care.
