Online grocery store Kibsons is making its business more sustainable.

It reduced electricity by 25 per cent by installing solar panels in its 13,000-metre warehouse located in Ras Al Khor, Dubai.

A new water recycling plant will be operational to conserve water during the summer.

“The Kibsons new water recycling plant is on track to recycle more than 75 per cent of the water used to keep the demanding cold storage facility up and running,” the company said.

“Filtering and purifying the water utilised, Kibsons can save 1,000,000 gallons of water annually.”

Kibsons will also compost 100 per cent of its organic waste. This will contribute to reducing the carbon footprint towards landfills, it said.

The e-commerce company is also recycling 90 per cent of its plastic and paper.

Delivery boxes will also be collected and recycled back from customers’ homes.

The company has also switched to paper-based packaging.

Customers can also choose have their items packed in eco-friendly recyclable paper bags or packed without bags where possible
