The company has joined hands with Emirates Red Crescent to support the ‘Bridges of Giving’ campaign, a nationwide community donation drive, to aid those affected by the disaster.

As part of the outreach in UAE, the group’s brands Splash, Max fashion, Home Centre, Babyshop and Shoemart contributed over AED five million worth of essential goods towards the ‘Bridges of Giving’ campaign by Emirates Red Crescent that include clothes, shoes, socks, baby clothing and homeware products.

In addition, Landmark Group conducted a community donation drive at Oasis Mall, and its offices collected more than 100 boxes of food and other essentials towards the affected quake victims. The group also contributed to Qatar Red Crescent to further their relief efforts.

Other Middle East retailers such as Majid Al Futtaim, Union Coop and LuLu have contributed toward relief efforts as well.

Mohammad Ahmed Alyammahi, Dubai centre manager from Emirates Red Crescent, said: “The earthquakes in Turkey and Syria have resulted in a humanitarian crisis that has affected thousands of people, and expected to have significant long-term implications in the coming years. This requires an actionable response that includes not only financial and in-kind support but also moral and emotional assistance. We are thankful to Landmark Group for this support.”

Nisha Jagtiani, group director at Landmark Group, said: “It is devastating to see the magnitude of the disaster in Turkey and Syria that impacted so many lives and families. The tremendous effort by governments, charitable organisations as well as communities across the region, is heartening to see as they all come together in support. The commitment and relief efforts by Emirates Red Crescent and Qatar Red Crescent, has been truly incredible. We do hope the people of Turkey and Syria get the help they need to see through such difficult times.”
