Discount store Day to Day has opened its largest store – and it’s in Abu Dhabi.
The move is part of the brand’s expansion of cryptocurrency-friendly venues across the UAE.
Day to Day is one of the first retailers in the country to accept cryptocurrency payments – including Tron, Ethereum and Bitcoin – in-store.
Shoppers can pay using their mobile phones or point-of-sale machines located in–store.
Customers can also shop via the company’s website, which offers delivery across the Emirates.
A global YouGov survey revealed that UAE consumers trust cryptocurrencies more than other nations and are eager to pay for their day-to-day purchases using the currency.
The total cryptocurrency transaction volumes grew by more than 500 per cent to $15.8 trillion last year in the Middle East, according to a report by blockchain analysis firm Chainalysis.
