Majid Al Futtaim opened Global Solutions headquarters at Egypt’s City Centre Almaza on June 23.

Formed last year in Dubai, Global Solutions intends to streamline Majid Al Futtaim’s business model to better connect with more partners and achieve the company’s growth and development objectives with the benefit of Egypt’s locale.

“Today marks a memorable milestone in the Global Solutions journey that cements its presence in Egypt – a nation which Majid Al Futtaim has considered a key market for decades,” said Khaled Al Chidiac, CEO of Majid Al Futtaim’s Global Solutions.

“Majid Al Futtaim recognises the endless opportunities that Egypt presents for future growth, as well as the immense potential of its talented people and young graduates.

“We strongly believe that Egyptians are the talent pipeline for Majid Al Futtaim.

“Majid Al Futtaim is and will continue to be a long-term partner of Egypt, with a total of its investments reaching EGP26 billion and with further plans to increase that number to EGP44 billion.”

The opening was a partnership between Majid Al Futtaim and the country’s Information Technology Industry Development Agency, the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology and the General Authority for Investments and Free Zones.

Global Solutions will manage and be the hub for business plans, export services, finance, human capital, information technology, technology implementations, procurement and government relationships across Majid Al Futtaim’s active companies and offices in 17 countries.

“Majid Al Futtaim’s Global Solutions’ decision to choose and invest in Egypt to open headquarters for outsourcing its operations to the region confirms Egypt’s potential as an investment destination, especially in light of the available skills and young talent,” said Mohamed Abdel-Wahab, CEO of the General Authority for Investments and Free Zones.

“This is in line with the government’s vision to further invest in local talent, providing training and qualification programmes that continue to build on the necessary capabilities using state-of-the-art technology that meets the demands of the labour market.”

Global Solutions plans to advance integration of technology and sustainability initiatives into Majid Al Futtaim’s projects.

In addition, the management division hopes to expand by offering its services to other companies operating in the Middle East.

“We are thrilled to witness the opening of Majid Al Futtaim’s Global Solutions headquarters right here in Egypt,” said Hazem Nabil, VP of market development at Information Technology Industry Development Agency.

“The Information Technology Industry Development Agency is looking forward to attracting more global services providers and witnessing further expansion plans for multinational companies in the offshoring industry, especially in tier-two cities and governorates, which also enjoy an abundance of skilled talent at a competitive cost.”

Global Solutions employs 800 people across its UAE and Egypt branches, with 550 operating from Cairo offices.

“The centre has contributed to creating about 550 jobs in the fields of shared services and outsourcing – a testament to the competencies and talents of Egypt’s youth, the backbone of this industry,” Mr Nabil added.

Aligning with Majid Al Futtaim’s efforts towards sustainability, the headquarters are LEED certified, constructed as an efficient and cost-saving ‘green’ establishment.

In March, City Centre Almaza welcomed the Almaza Recruitment and Training Centre, which offers vocational programmes and schemes for people looking to work in retail and hospitality, in line with encouraging the nation’s labour economy.
