Union Coop launches price matching for loyal customers

Union Coop, Dubai-based grocery retailer, announced its competitive pricing concept on May 19 at its headquarters in Al Warqa City Mall.

Holders of the retailer’s loyalty cards, GOLD Tamayaz, can request for product prices to be matched to those of other retailers on the Dubai market upon purchase of Union Coop products.

The difference in price will be reimbursed to shoppers’ Tamayaz cards.

The concept aims to establish and strengthen consumer confidence through ensuring competitive pricing and appealing to customers’ interests.

Social welfare, and making food and basic necessities available at competitive prices, is the main goal of the concept, said His Excellency Khalid Humaid Bin Diban Al Falasi, CEO of Union Coop.

He also shared that the concept will help limit the rise of prices and support free flow of commodities in efforts to ensure a stable market.

Shoppers can avail reimbursements if requests are made within 24 hours of purchase from Union Coop at the branch of purchase. Branch managers will review requests and determine eligibility of reimbursements.

Products must be of same brand, size, colour and country of origin, and have identical packaging and barcodes.

Products must not be part of promotions, wholesale, clearance, express, limited or special offers.

In addition, the validity date of competitors’ products must not precede that of Union Coop’s.

Fresh fruits, vegetable, meat, fish and click-and-collect purchases are not eligible for reimbursements under the competitive pricing concept.

The concept comes after Union Coop recorded over AED29 million in sales of locally sourced organic and hydroponic fruits and vegetables last year.
