Qatar Duty Free has welcomed the Middle East’s first duty-free Samsonite store at Hamad International Airport.

The opening introduces its products to an extended customer base, says the luggage company.

Shaheen Jamil, business head of Samsonite and Tumi’s Middle East, East Africa, Commonwealth Independent States and South Asian Association for Regional Corporation division, said: “We are pleased to partner with Qatar Duty Free to launch our first Samsonite Duty-Free Boutique in the Middle East, giving travellers the opportunity to experience our brand exclusively.

“This is the first time we have launched a boutique in partnership with a duty-free retailer in the Middle East, and we are delighted to be showcasing our best collection of sustainable as well as latest regular products at Qatar Duty Free.”

Thabet Musleh, vice president of Qatar Duty Free, said: “We are delighted to partner with Samsonite to open this first ever duty-free boutique of Samsonite in the Middle East at our home and hub, Hamad International Airport.”

“At Qatar Duty Free, we are constantly searching for the very best products and services to offer our customers to enhance their travel experience.”

The store’s opening comes as a continuation of Qatar Duty Free’s expansion plan, ’21 in 21’ – opening 21 new stores to celebrate its 21st anniversary in 2021.

The organisation added numerous luxury brands including Valentino, Fendi and Jimmy Choo to its portfolio.

“Qatar Duty Free is constantly expanding its offerings by partnering with a range of luxury brands to provide innovative and memorable experiences for our customers, giving them an experience worth travelling for,” said Mr Musleh.

Prior to the Covid-19 pandemic, Hamad International Airport welcomed more than 30 million passengers.

Last year, the airport reported 17.7 million passengers, a 41 per cent year-on-year increase from 2020, thanks to eased restrictions and the global travel rebound.

As an official partner of FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, Hamad International Airport is expecting more than 58 million passengers during the tournament that takes place in November and December, increasing Qatar Duty Free’s customer base.
