{"id":23606,"date":"2023-07-18T14:49:08","date_gmt":"2023-07-18T14:49:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.meretailnews.com\/?p=23606"},"modified":"2023-07-18T15:09:25","modified_gmt":"2023-07-18T15:09:25","slug":"danfoss-launches-smart-store","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.meretailnews.com\/2023\/07\/18\/danfoss-launches-smart-store\/","title":{"rendered":"Danfoss brings climate-friendly store format to Middle East"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><!-- VideographyWP Plugin Message: Automatic video embedding prevented by plugin options. --><br \/>\nDanish multinational company <a href=\"https:\/\/www.danfoss.com\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Danfoss<\/a> is launching its Smart Store supermarket solutions in the Middle East to reduce carbon emissions in the retail sector.<\/p>\n<p>Regional president at Danfoss Turkey, Middle East and Africa, Ziad Al-Bawaliz, said: &#8220;Our new &#8216;Smart Store&#8217; supermarket showcases the immense potential for energy efficiency and sustainable solutions in the Mena region&#8217;s food retail sector.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;By combining cutting-edge technology, renewable energy sources and efficient food retail solutions, we aim to inspire a new era of zero-emissions supermarkets that address the growing energy demand, reduce food loss and pave the way for a more sustainable future in the region.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The new supermarket format is expected to be approximately 50 per cent more energy efficient compared to a typical supermarket with a first-generation CO2 refrigeration system.<\/p>\n<p>It also promises to be around 20-30 per cent more efficient than an equivalent local store already fitted with multiple energy efficiency solutions.<\/p>\n<p>President of Danfoss Climate Solutions, Jurgen Fischer, said: \u201cWe have developed this new <a href=\"https:\/\/www.meretailnews.com\/2022\/08\/22\/al-meera-teams-up-with-zippin-to-launch-checkout-free-stores-in-qatar\/\">Smart<\/a> Store supermarket with partners and customers to demonstrate that it is possible to build a climate-friendly and super-efficient facility, using world-class heating and cooling technology.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Our new \u2018Smart Store\u2019 proves that the future is now. This supermarket is purpose-built for the world ahead of us; a world of more urbanization, larger populations, greater energy demands, a growing need for cooling, and efficient food storage.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The \u2018Smart Store\u2019 is fitted with advanced recovery units, designed to recover the waste heat from all the refrigeration systems.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDanfoss has reimagined what food retail stores could look like in the 21st century. For the first time, all of Danfoss\u2019 most cutting-edge technology and energy-efficient food retail solutions are being brought together into one retail site,&#8221; added Mr Fischer.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;But the new Smart Store supermarket is only the beginning.
