{"id":23251,"date":"2023-06-12T14:00:39","date_gmt":"2023-06-12T14:00:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.meretailnews.com\/?p=23251"},"modified":"2023-06-12T14:25:58","modified_gmt":"2023-06-12T14:25:58","slug":"chalhoub-group-2022-report","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.meretailnews.com\/2023\/06\/12\/chalhoub-group-2022-report\/","title":{"rendered":"Chalhoub Group commits to net-zero by 2040"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><!-- VideographyWP Plugin Message: Automatic video embedding prevented by plugin options. --><br \/>\nUAE-based luxury goods distributor <a href=\"https:\/\/www.meretailnews.com\/2023\/05\/10\/chalhoub-group-and-essilorluxottica-partner\/\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Chalhoub Group<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0has published its annual Sustainability Report, outlining its goal to achieve net zero emissions across its operations by 2040.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The report announces the validation of 10-year science-based targets by the Science Based Target Initiative to reduce the company\u2019s carbon emissions.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The 2022 report describes the Group\u2019s focus on three key pillars including People, Planet and Partners, while showcasing how the Group\u2019s material Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) topics integrate into its operations.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Partners<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">More than 25 per cent of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sustainabilityreport.chalhoubgroup.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Chalhoub Group\u2019s<\/a> supplier base has been assessed across United Nations Global Compact principles of transparency, labour and human rights, environment and anti-corruption.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Additionally, Chalhoub Group said it seeks to actively nurture ethical and responsible partnerships to achieve common sustainability goals and establish a strong Group-wide Health and Safety management framework.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Planet<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Chalhoub Group has committed to reducing absolute scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions by 50.4 per cent by 2032 from a 2021 base year; and also to reduce absolute scope 3 GHG emissions, from purchased goods and services, upstream transport and distribution, upstream leased assets and investments, by 30 per cent within the same timeframe.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The report also details how Chalhoub Group is aspiring to reach net-zero emissions across all its operations in alignment with local and global targets.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Chief sustainability officer at Chalhoub Group, Florence Bulte, said: \u201cWe have taken a significant step towards achieving the objectives of our Chalhoub Impact framework by strengthening the integration of Environmental, Social and Governance principles into our business model.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">&#8220;In 2022, our primary focus was paving the way towards being a Net Zero Group by 2040, in line with our commitment to tackling climate change.
