{"id":22781,"date":"2023-04-25T14:12:07","date_gmt":"2023-04-25T14:12:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.meretailnews.com\/?p=22781"},"modified":"2023-04-25T15:04:00","modified_gmt":"2023-04-25T15:04:00","slug":"apparel-group-sustainabilty","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.meretailnews.com\/2023\/04\/25\/apparel-group-sustainabilty\/","title":{"rendered":"Apparel Group starts full greenhouse gas accounting"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><!-- VideographyWP Plugin Message: Automatic video embedding prevented by plugin options. --><br \/>\n<span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">To accelerate its sustainability agenda, UAE-based retail conglomerate <a href=\"https:\/\/www.meretailnews.com\/2023\/03\/28\/apparel-group-to-plant-100-trees-in-spain\/\">Apparel Group<\/a> is introducing new <a href=\"https:\/\/greenly.earth\/en-us\/blog\/company-guide\/ghg-accounting-what-is-it-and-how-does-it-work\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">greenhouse gas accounting<\/a> initiatives.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">This carbon accounting exercise will enable the company to put in place the proper reduction measures and design its Net-Zero journey following its sustainability report.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">CEO of Apparel Group, Neeraj Teckchandani, said: \u201cWe are committed to ensuring that our operations align with our values and contribute to a better future for all.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">&#8220;Our focus on sustainability will enable us to reduce our carbon footprint and design a Net-Zero journey. We are excited about this new chapter in our company\u2019s history and look forward to sharing our progress.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Greenhouse gas accounting is a way companies can measure how many overall emissions they are producing and emitting into the atmosphere.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Since 2010, Apparel Group has increased their focus on the environment, acknowledging the urgency to help alleviate the global climate situation.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Recently, the Group signed a pledge with the UAE government for the race to Net Zero by 2050. Complementary to this, the company has joined the UACA alliance to leverage peer knowledge and best practices.
