{"id":22670,"date":"2023-04-14T13:16:25","date_gmt":"2023-04-14T13:16:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.meretailnews.com\/?p=22670"},"modified":"2023-04-14T13:16:25","modified_gmt":"2023-04-14T13:16:25","slug":"uae-duty-free-sales","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.meretailnews.com\/2023\/04\/14\/uae-duty-free-sales\/","title":{"rendered":"UAE Duty Free sales to be driven by India, China, UK over next four years"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><!-- VideographyWP Plugin Message: Automatic video embedding prevented by plugin options. --><br \/>\n<span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">India, China and the UK will dominate <a href=\"https:\/\/www.meretailnews.com\/2023\/02\/28\/dubai-duty-free-reports-78-per-cent-increase-in-sales-in-2022\/\">UAE Duty Free<\/a> sales over the next four years as travel spending is expected to witness a substantial increase, according to\u00a0<\/span><em><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Euromonitor International<\/span><\/em><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0Its latest report titled <a href=\"https:\/\/www.euromonitor.com\/world-market-for-duty-free-unlocking-value-and-new-opportunities\/report\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">&#8216;<\/a><\/span><em><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">World Market for Duty-Free: Unlocking Value and New Opportunities&#8217;<\/span><\/em><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0said: \u201cThe UAE has benefited from its relatively open approach to travel and tourism during the pandemic, plus its two main hubs of Emirates\u2019 Dubai and Etihad\u2019s Abu Dhabi, as well as the added uplift from the recent Football World Cup held in neighbouring Qatar.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">&#8220;Dubai and Abu Dhabi are magnets for luxury brands and shopping.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The recent recovery in international travel has markedly increased passenger spending. Dubai Duty Free recently posted annual sales of Dh6.34 billion ($1.74 billion) in 2022, representing a 78 per cent increase over the previous year, while Dubai International saw passenger traffic more than double, reaching more than 66 million last year.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u201cWith several sporting events expected to be hosted in the country, Dubai Duty Free is set to benefit further from the associated influx of passengers,\u201d said the report.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The international duty-free market faced severe headwinds during the lockdown.
