Panda Retail Company has held its first annual event for suppliers called PACE (Panda Annual Collaborative Event) at The Venue Jeddah Corniche Hotel.

PACE zoomed in on the local and international challenges posed by raging inflation and focused on finding solutions to safeguard consumers from traumatic inflationary effects. More than 300 company executives and key journalists attended the event.

Inflation pressure

CEO of Panda Retail Company, Bander Talaat Hamooh, underscored the importance of establishing the PACE event in order to facilitate better customer experience in the retail sector.

Mr Hamooh added that Panda played a crucial role in the “Ma tegla alik” – a campaign launched by the Federation of Saudi Chambers in collaborative with the Chambers of Commerce to provide basic food commodities at reduced prices, including over 40 basic items such as chicken, eggs, rice, milk, oils and meat.

Mr Hamooh said “as an extension of government initiatives, Panda Retail Company launched an innovative campaign entitled “Thabatn’aha” to reduce and fix the prices of more than 300 commodities in all its branches around the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, assisting families in an economic consumer experience, in addition to providing solutions that ensure a more efficient shopping experience.

“The company is working with its strategic suppliers for practical solutions to absorb the effects of global inflation on customers so that they do not feel its repercussions and effects, which confirms its national duty, based on being the leading and most widespread chain of stores in the kingdom.”

The company collaborates with its partners and suppliers at both local and international levels, providing them with affordable prices for customers and consumers.

Supporting local industries

One of the key issues illuminated at PACE was implementing strategies to strengthen the Saudi national economy through supporting national industries.

Panda Retail Company vowed to bolster the “Made in Saudi Arabia” programme launched by His Highness the Crown Prince in March 2021. The programme was designed to stimulate national industries, encourage consumers to buy locally and boost Saudi exports to global markets.

Panda is one of the country’s large retail stores that has allocated select branches and e-commerce to display national commodities to reflect its “Saudi Made” identity.

Digitisation and customer experience

The PACE event marked Panda Company’s vital contributions to the “Reformulating the Concept of Shopping” programme, created to keep pace with the global accelerated digital transformation in line with the Saudi Arabia Vision 2030.

Panda Retail Company, operated by Savola Group, is the largest retail sector company in the Middle East, which boasts more than 16,000 employees across 182 branches in Saudi Arabia. It caters to more than 300 million visitors annually through its various markets and e-commerce.
