{"id":16755,"date":"2022-04-29T08:50:37","date_gmt":"2022-04-29T08:50:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.meretailnews.com\/?p=16755"},"modified":"2022-06-12T19:55:56","modified_gmt":"2022-06-12T19:55:56","slug":"carrefour-uae-raises-aed2-million-to-donate-100000-meals","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.meretailnews.com\/2022\/04\/29\/carrefour-uae-raises-aed2-million-to-donate-100000-meals\/","title":{"rendered":"Carrefour UAE raises AED2 million to deliver 100,000 meals"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><!-- VideographyWP Plugin Message: Automatic video embedding prevented by plugin options. --><br \/>\n<span data-contrast=\"auto\">Carrefour UAE has raised AED2 million to help feed families in need.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Its You Donate, We Double campaign,\u00a0 in collaboration with Emirates Red Crescent, was set up with the aim of delivering 100,000 meals to<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\"> refugees, displaced individuals and families, and crisis-stricken communities across the region.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">At checkout, both in-store and online, customers could purchase and donate a meal worth AED20, which <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Majid Al Futtaim \u2013 owners of the Carrefour franchise in the region \u2013 matched dirham for dirham until they reached their target.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u201cWe are thrilled to be donating AED2 million to families in need,\u201d said Bernardo Perloiro, COO of Majid Al Futtaim Retail\u2019s GCC division.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u201cAs one of the UAE\u2019s leading retailers, we know we can use our size and scale to make a real impact on our surrounding communities and enable positive change \u2013 even more so with the support of our customers and extended Carrefour family.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u201cThis has been a real team effort with the support of Emirates Red Crescent, and it is heartening to see people across the UAE get behind such a fantastic initiative,\u201d Mr Perloiro said.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Carrefour also contributed to the UAE\u2019s 1 billion meals drive.
