Landmark Group founder Micky Jagtiani dies

Founder of retail giant Landmark Group, Micky Jagtiani, has passed away, at the age of 70.

Currently, his wife Renuka runs the Landmark Group as chairman and CEO.

The founder chairman of the Landmark Group was responsible for creating a multi-billion dollar retail and hospitality empire, with interests across markets, in the region, the subcontinent and beyond.

With a net worth of $5.2 billion, he was ranked 511 on Forbes’ 37th annual world billionaires list earlier this year. 

The Group’s statement reads: “Renowned for his exceptional leadership, unwavering customer-centric approach, and deep market understanding, his visionary spirit and strategic foresight helped the Landmark Group and its brands become a household name in the community.

“From its humble beginnings with a single store in Bahrain in 1973, Micky Jagtiani was the driving force in shaping the conglomerate’s extraordinary journey. His strategic acumen enabled the Landmark Group to emerge as the region’s foremost retail and hospitality conglomerate, with over 2,200 stores in 21 countries across the Middle East and Africa, as well as the Indian Subcontinent, and Southeast Asia.

“He is fondly remembered by his family – Renuka, Aarti & Savitar, Nisha & Kabir, and Rahul, his grandchildren Samar, Nikhil, Yohan and Aliya – and his beloved Landmark Group community.”

Founded in 1973 with a single store in Bahrain, Landmark Group comprising brands such as Max, Babyshop, Splash Homecentre, operating over 630 stores across 145 cities with more than 9.4 million square feet of retail space.
