“The recent earthquake in Syria and Turkey has had a devastating impact on the affected communities, and we are honoured to be able to provide critical aid and support through our partnerships with Red Crescent Societies in Bahrain, the UAE and Qatar. We believe that it is our responsibility to leverage our resources and expertise to make a positive difference in the lives of those affected by this tragedy.”

Mr Teckchandani added that as the group continues to support vulnerable communities in the region, it remains dedicated to aligning its “efforts with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals”.

So far, other Middle East retailers such as Majid Al Futtaim, Union Coop and LuLu have contributed toward relief efforts.

BRCS secretary-general, Mubarak Al Hadi, said: “This concerted effort is aimed at ensuring an uninterrupted continuum of crucial humanitarian assistance and relief provisions to the individuals and families afflicted by the deleterious effects of this earthquake.”
