UAE retailers announce 50 per cent discounts on products for Ramadan

To woo shoppers ahead of Ramadan, UAE retailers are launching discounts of up to 50 per cent on numerous products while boosting stock availability by 15 per cent to meet increased demand throughout the holy month.

Various shops also plan to boost stock availability by 15 per cent to meet increased demand throughout the holy month which will last from March 23 to April 21.

For example, Majid Al Futtaim-operated Carrefour has already launched discounts of up to 50 per cent on more than 6,000 products.

Head of commercial and operations of Carrefour at Majid Al Futtaim Retail, Christophe Orcet, said: “We support the growth and prosperity of our communities by ensuring stock availability and price stability. We are also collaborating with the Emirates Red Crescent to distribute Ramadan boxes filled with essentials to those in need.”

The campaign will run for more than six weeks and will include discounts on bulk buys, exclusive offers from international brands as well as discounts on its own private label.

Another highlight of the month is the ‘Emirati Fresh Festival’ which will offer discounts of up to 30 per cent on fresh fruits and vegetables from local farms.

Similarly, Al Adil supermarkets will be offering high discounts to shoppers in keeping with the brand’s initiative to support the community during the holy month.  

Chairman and managing director of Al Adil Trading, Dhananjay Datar, said: “Our promotions and discounts run for 45 days, starting 15 days prior to the start of Ramadan and ending a few days after Ramadan. This year, we will offer up to 50 per cent discount on over 400 products. We will be offering a good reduction on items that are heavily consumed by the people who fast such as rice powder, black chickpeas, sugar, juices, syrups and fresh vegetables.”

Moving forward, Al Maya Supermarkets will launch promotions and discounts for 45 days on more than 480 items including beverages, frozen foods, fresh produce and other grocery items early next month.

Group director and partner of Al Maya Group, Kamal Vachani, said all the UAE 50 conglomerate’s branches across the UAE will be running various Ramadan promotions.

“We have designed three promotions which are Pre-Ramadan, Ramadan One and Ramadan Two promotions wherein we offer over 480 Ramadan essentials with a discount of around 30 per cent. The promotion will start from March 1, 2023, and will run for 45 days and the items covered are beverages, frozen foods, fresh produce and other grocery items with attractive offers,” said Mr Vachani.
