Giordano ME sets ambitious target for 2025

Hong Kong-based clothing retailer Giordano has announced plans to embark on a robust expansion in the Middle East, with a target to have 300 stores in the region in its portfolio by 2025.

When asked about some recent major milestones in the fashion brand’s development, CEO and managing director for Giordano Middle East, Ishwar Chugani, said: “It has to be celebrating 30 years of being present in the Middle East region.

“As such, 2022 has been an amazing year for us. Our overall sale-to-date in 2022 is up by 29 per cent as compared to 2021. The total quantity of goods sold this year will exceed five million pieces, which is much higher than any of the previous years.”

Just in the last 12 months, Giordano has opened 10 stores in the region, juggling it with 10 more international stores in new markets such as Bangladesh, Ghana, Pakistan, Kenya and Egypt.

Created in 1993 as a subsidiary of Giordano International, Giordano ME provides strategic support, logistics and management to the brand’s franchise partners across the region. In addition, it works on Giordano’s expansion and franchising across the globe.

“Looking ahead, we will undertake continuous expansion through franchising with Africa and Central Asia as major focus areas,” said Mr Chugani.

Today, Giordano ME operates more than 270 stores across the GCC, Egypt, Yemen, Libya, Iraq, Mauritius, Ghana, Kenya, South Africa, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Maldives, Nepal, Armenia, Georgia and Mongolia.

Alongside focusing on the brick-and-mortar segment, Giordano ME has been actively involved in managing its online business which has recorded double-digit year-on-year growth. The brand serves more than two million customers in the GCC and more than 12 million globally.

Giordano International was founded in Hong Kong in 1981 and is now one of the world’s leading international retailers of men’s, women’s and children’s apparel and accessories.
