Etika Jewels to offer lab-grown diamonds

Dubai-based sustainable jewellery brand Etika Jewels has teamed up with Diamond Foundry, a California-based lab-grown diamond manufacturer, to offer carbon-neutral lab-grown diamonds in the country.

With this collaboration, Etika Jewels can broaden its offerings to include diamonds made using renewable energy, complementing its existing ethical lab-grown diamond collection.

The Etika Jewel’s collection will feature investment-grade diamonds from 0.8 carats and above.

Founder of Etika Jewels, Basma Chaieri, said: “Our mission at Etika Jewels is to give customers access to responsible jewellery with distinctive features while empowering them to spend consciously.

“As part of our continued commitment to sustainability, we are excited to partner with the best innovators in the sector like Diamond Foundry and be the first to offer a revolutionary diamond concept in the UAE. By providing carbon-free lab-grown diamonds that are celebrity-approved we hope to inspire change in the local diamond industry and give customers a chance to look their best with standout pieces without worrying about impacts on the environment and other stakeholders.”

The company said lab-grown diamonds are visually, physically and chemically identical to mined diamonds.

Diamond Foundry is the first diamond producer in the world that uses advanced proprietary technology to grow diamonds in laboratories with zero carbon emissions owing to a hydropower-led process.

This collaboration will pave the way to upgrading the ethical standards in the diamond industry.

“People are becoming more and more receptive to sustainability-centric innovation and that’s a huge opportunity for us,” said Ms Chaieri.

“After 12 years in the digital travel industry, I decided to step out of my comfort and realize my big dream: create a business with an impact, a business that will make a difference. So, I went back to being a student again and learned about carbon chemistry, diamonds and gemology. I used my experience in the digital industry to reinvent how women shop for jewellery and create a brand that is at the heart image of women today: active, trendy, caring and determined.”

The online jewellery store was launched in the UAE in September focusing on ethical standards in the diamond industry.
