Grocery brand Géant, part of French retailing giant GMG, has unveiled the first location of its supermarket chain in the UAE—in City life Al Jurf in Ajman.
This move is in keeping with the retailer’s regional expansion plans.
Home delivery will also be available via local delivery platforms.
President of consumer goods at GMG, Marc Laurent, said: “Géant’s supermarket concept is designed specifically to serve busy and active neighbourhoods and communities where choice, convenience and value are top priorities.

“This, our flagship store in Ajman, is certain to set the benchmark for supermarkets across the UAE, in terms of layout and experience and we look forward to using this ribbon cutting as a springboard for our growth plan to open more than 20 stores in the UAE in 2023, focusing on serving the neighbourhood communities and offering value and variety to meet all their shopping needs.”
The new supermarket in Ajman will embrace UAE’s single-use plastic-free agenda to comply with its reusable bags scheme adopted across all of its locations back in July.
Géant has been recently demonstrating its commitment to environmental sustainability and promoting a cohesive community lifestyle. For example, two months ago, the retailer teamed up with the world’s largest Dubai-based hydroponic farm, Bustanica, to ensure the supply of locally-sourced organic vegetables to all its supermarkets across the UAE.
Géant is a chain of supermarkets and hypermarkets that are part of the French retailing giant Groupe Casino, with a turnover of more than 30 billion euros and part of the GMG’s Consumer Goods division in the UAE.
Currently, there are 10 Géant Express convenience stores across Dubai and a recently launched Géant Hypermarket at Dubai Hills Mall & Al Khawaneej Walk.
