To mark its 39th anniversary, airport retailer Dubai Duty Free will be offering 25 per cent discounts on a wide range of products over three days— on December 18-20.
Discount offers will be available for all departing, transiting and arriving passengers at Dubai International and Al Maktoum International Airports.
Executive vice chairman and CEO of Dubai Duty Free, Colm McLoughlin, said: “The Dubai Duty Free anniversary promotion is now a highly anticipated event, and many people select those dates to travel to benefit from the 25 per cent discount.
“We started this promotion when we turned 20 and, given that we have had a good year in 2022, this is a good way of saying thank you to our customers. There is always a terrific atmosphere on the shop floor during the anniversary day sales, with everyone getting caught up in the holiday spirit.”
Those travelling on the discount days can take advantage of this offer online by using Dubai Duty Free’s click & collect service to pre-order their goods 12 hours before departure or arrival and collect them at the designated collection points at Dubai Duty Free.
It will also be extended to Dubai Duty Free’s home delivery service which is available to all UAE residents.
Dubai Duty Free announced a 2022 eight-month turnover of $1.06 billion, registering a 104 per cent increase in sales, Retail In Asia reports.
Perfumes, liquor, gold, cigarettes & tobacco and electronics remained bestsellers, with the first category showing an 89 per cent jump amounting to $186m, while liquor, accounting for 16 per cent of total sales, hit $168m.
“We have had a fantastic year so far and I am pleased that we have recovered over 80 per cent of our business from January to August, whereas the passenger recovery is about 67 per cent of 2019 levels. We have now recalled almost 2,000 of our laid-off staff and our current staffing levels are getting closer to the pre-Covid figures,” said Mr McLoughlin.
Three weeks ago, Dubai Duty Free was named the ‘World’s Leading Airport Duty Free Operator 2022’ by the World Travel Awards.
