UAE’s eyewear retailer eyewa has opened its 10th outlet in the UAE at Mall of the Emirates of Dubai— its 50th store in the GCC.

With the opening of its new flagship store, the company marks more than 300 per cent growth in its retail footprint in the last year alone, according to the statement.

Managing director of eyewa in the UAE, Elias Tsikhlakhis, said: “From the beginning, our vision for eyewa has always been about making eyewear accessible to all; from pricing first, but also to the shopping experience.

“We initially invested heavily in the online channel because there was a gap in the market with very little supply of eyewear online. Over time, we realised that the same gap existed in the offline market, especially in the affordable segment – and that pushed us to expand to offline retail to reach more customers with these unmet needs.”

Over the last two years, eyewa has grown from no offline presence to 50 stores, becoming the fastest-growing retailer in the Mena region.

The company entered the physical retail space short of two years ago, with the opening of its first store in Mall of Dhahran in Saudi Arabia in December 2020.

Being a digitally native company, which first started as an eyewear e-commerce retailer, eyewa saw early on that customers move freely across channels and hence decided to commit to an omnichannel strategy.

To date, eyewa invested more than $30 million in this cross-platform approach. The brand now operates a significant physical market presence, with 50 retail stores operating in four countries, across 30 cities.

The company is determined to expand further to double its reach next year by bringing the total number of physical stores to 100, while also foraying into other markets in the GCC and across the Mena region.
