Al Futtaim opens two B&Q stores in KSA

News

Following its partnership with Kingfisher PLC last year, Al Futtaim has opened two B&Q stores in Saudi Arabia.

The branches are located on King Abdullah Road and in Riyadh’s Al Farooq District.

Shoppers can find products across numerous categories, including outdoor living, kitchenware, dinnerware, tools and hardware, garden furniture and equipment, storage, lighting, bathroom, decorative products and home improvement essentials, as well as paint mixing services.

The stores aim to cater to retail and trade customers in the Kingdom’s home improvement sector ahead of its anticipated growth in coming years.

“The business partnership between Al Futtaim and Kingfisher is a great opportunity to expand our retail operation in the attractive home improvement market of the Kingdom,” said Regis Schultz, president of Al Futtaim Retail Group.

“Al Futtaim Group’s strategic roadmap has enabled us to adopt the business best practices and seize opportunities to bring the best global brands under one roof to the region.”

“The plan to open B&Q stores in the Saudi capital is important keeping in view the growth of Riyadh, which aims to more than double its population and become one of the 10 richest cities in the world under the ambitious plans unveiled by the Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman recently.”

B&Q offers its customers home delivery and allows free returns of products within 30 days of purchase.

Over 60 per cent of stock is either exclusive to B&Q or internationally sourced.

Customers can find some of Kingfisher’s own brands, such as Erbauer, Magnusson and GoodHome, alongside international ones, including JJA, Karcher and Bosch.

“Our customers will be able to access a range of leading home improvement products and access expert advice alongside their regular shop, as this new partnership with Kingfisher brings a broader range of international products and services, exclusive in Saudi Arabia, to our stores,” said Colin McMahon, general manager of B&Q’s Middle East division at Al Futtaim Group.

“The first B&Q stores in Saudi Arabia will be supported by an e-commerce proposition very soon.”

The stores will offer free timber cutting, click and collect, design studio and kitchen fit-out services by the end of the next quarter.

Based in the UK, Kingfisher operates 1,490 stores across eight countries, employing more than 80,000 employees.
