Spinneys opens second store on Egypt’s North Coast

Spinneys opened a store on Egypt’s North Coast on June 12, as part of the grocery retailer’s expansion plans across the country.

Located in Marina Valley opposite Gate 5, the store is Spinneys’ second in the area.

“The new store is the second investment in the North Coast region which we have developed after the huge success of the first store we opened in Rivette Mall three years ago,” said Mohanad Adly, CEO of Spinneys.

“Our second store in the North Coast is our fourth this year and this reflects our ongoing commitment to the Egyptian market.”

The branch houses a cheese counter, delicatessen, in-store bakery and poultry and meat and produce sections.

Fruits and vegetables are sourced from the neighbouring Alexandria district to ensure freshness and support the local agricultural economy.

Customers can also place orders for home delivery from the North Coast branch.

Products can be ordered on Spinneys’ website, mobile application or by phoning the call centre hotline.

Shoppers enrolled in Spinneys’ loyalty programme can also collect and redeem points from purchases made at the branch.

On April 30, Spinneys opened a branch on Abdel Hamid Lotfy Street in the Nasr City district, creating 150 new jobs.

“As part of our investment plan for the area, we’re pleased to create summer employment opportunities for young interns and in the past three years, Spinneys has recruited more than 200 team members to serve the two North Coast stores,” Mr Adly said.

“Currently, we operate a national network of 20 stores across eight different cities in Egypt and we employ over 2,000 dedicated employees.”

The grocery retailer is set to open another store on the North Coast before the end of the month.

Mr Adly added, “We’re also looking forward to opening a third Spinneys supermarket next year along the coast for the convenience of our customers.”
