In keeping with its Gift an Iftar campaign, taking place during Ramadan, Dubai’s Festival Plaza has partnered with the UAE Food Bank to donate to those in need.

Festival Plaza will host a dry food drive where shoppers can drop off non-perishable items, such as coffee and tea powder, pasta, pulses and rice.

The mall will also donate one meal for every customer at any of its restaurants or cafes.

Donations to the UAE Food Bank will be distributed to underprivileged people in the country in co-ordination with local, regional and international humanitarian organisations.

“At Al-Futtaim Malls, we are committed to supporting the community with year-long initiatives,” said Genevieve Colaco, regional general manager of marketing and customer experience at Al-Futtaim Malls.

“We are delighted to partner with the UAE Food Bank for Festival Plaza’s ‘Gift an Iftar’ campaign and food drive this year, as we support those who are less fortunate and bring happiness to all during Ramadan.

“Our strategic initiatives are in line with the UAE’s humanitarian principles of aiding the vulnerable and we are honoured to be able to contribute,” Ms Colaco said.

The partnership comes as part of the mall’s #FestivalCares initiative, which encourages its visitors to help others through various corporate social responsibilities (CSR).

Last year, in collaboration with Emirates Red Crescent, Festival Plaza collected and donated more than 6,100 books and 7,000 toys and clothes.

“Throughout 2021, we took great pride in involving the community in all that we do, particularly when it comes to our charitable activities and donations,” Ms Colaco said.

“We have seen time and time again that people want to give back, therefore we are committed to finding ways across the year for us to make a change and help those less fortunate. Our goal is to highlight the importance of CSR and encourage communities to become a part of our initiatives.”

Alongside its charitable efforts, the mall will offer shopping deals during Ramadan and Eid Al Fitr.

From April 2 to May 1, shoppers will receive 10 per cent cashback on every AED500 spent at the mall’s LuLu Hypermarket or any dining concepts across the mall.

Shoppers also have the chance to win a AED250 gift card for every AED500 spent at the mall during Eid Al-Fitr, from May 2 to May 8.
