LuLu Group opens hypermarket in Abu Dhabi’s Al Shamkha Mall

Retail giant LuLu Group International has opened a hypermarket in Abu Dhabi’s Al Shamkha Mall.

The opening on March 22 comes after introducing branches to Dubai Investment Park and Saudi Arabia’s NEOM Community 1 earlier this year.

Al Shamkha Mall was inaugurated by Sultan Huwayer, director of municipality properties contracts at the Department of Municipalities and Transport, along with Yusuff Ali MA, chairman and managing director of the LuLu Group.

“We are proud to see another great retail addition to our growing circle of iconic stores which is a testimony to the fact that the LuLu Group has continued to expand and invest in the UAE’s future even through the challenging pandemic months,” Mr Ali said.

“It has always been our policy to make the LuLu brand easily accessible to shoppers in suburbs and outskirts areas, so they do not need to drive a long distance.”

Spanning over 150,000 square feet, the hypermarket is the shopping centre’s anchor tenant.

In keeping with its global expansion plans, the group is exploring the possibility of opening a hypermarket in Israel.

With an annual revenue of $8 billion, the group’s global stores receive one million shoppers and online orders from 1.1 million customers every day, according to Israel newspaper Globes

The group operates 227 stores and 24 malls in 22 countries, including the US, the Middle East, Asia and Europe.
